So, I’m kinda stressing about this whole custom home thing. My friend recently finished hers, and it was a disaster. The builder completely ignored what she wanted in the design, and the whole project took way longer than planned. She kept getting pushed aside and wasn’t even updated on what was happening. I don’t want to end up in the same boat. Like, how do I make sure I’m not just another customer to them, but actually heard?

Having gone through the process a couple of times, I’ll tell you—clarity is key. The first time I built, I didn’t really speak up enough. The builder was fine, but they weren’t proactive in asking what I wanted or checking in regularly. The second time, I took charge and made sure every little thing was discussed beforehand. It made a world of difference. Builders who actively communicate and respect your vision can really make or break the experience.
